about

the best remedy

The Best Remedy is a food and cocktail blog written by graphic designer Kelly Carámbula. You’ll find seasonally inspired food and cocktail recipes, along with classic comfort food, and a few disasters. The site also serves as a place to share creative inspiration and updates for Remedy Quarterly, an independent food magazine.

The Best Remedy is a continuation of Kelly’s original blog, eat make read, an award-winning food and cocktail blog that launched in 2007. She began eat make read to provide a place share her food discoveries and adventures with other people. It was the first of many once-unimaginable steps that has led her to a career that now revolves around the thing she once had no interest in—food.

After spending a few years wrangling two sites that had so much in common, eatmakeread.com and remedyquarterly.com, in 2012 Kelly made the decision to combine them and create one awesome food and recipe destination.

about Kelly

Kelly lives in San Francisco with her husband Aaron, daughter Claire, and their Boston Terrier, Maude. She’s continually inspired by the farmers market, loves a good cocktail and is always looking for an excuse to go on a new adventure—whether it be a new restaurant in the neighborhood or a city she’s never been.

She spent the first 20 years of her life turning her nose up to just about everything except macaroni and cheese (spirals please) and chicken tenders. Then she moved to New York and realized things had to change. She credits her first blog, eat make read, along with her husband Aaron in helping her try new foods and experience real flavor.

photography

What kind of camera do you use?

I started out using the canon elph which is an amazing little camera. I can’t recommend it enough. It’s super small and has an incredible macro lens.

After awhile I wanted to have more flexibility with my photography so I stepped it up a notch and got the Canon Rebel Xsi. I use two lenses, the one that came with it and more recently this little 50mm lens. When I procrastinate and can’t take photos until the evening, my Canon 430 EX II Speedlite Flash always saves me.

Can I use your photos on my blog?

Sure but please credit and link to the Best Remedy.
