raspberry, lime + gin

May 25th, 2012

Well hello there! Isn’t this just the loveliest cocktail? It tastes as good as it looks too—which is always key. The weather has been bonkers in NYC this week, the overarching theme is wet and muggy, which means my hair looks pretty sweet. Looking for a little relief from the weather, I whipped up this little beast by muddling some raspberries with lime juice and simple syrup, then adding some gin. The result is a bright, fruity cocktail that momentarily takes my attention from frizzy hair to delicious treats—quite the remedy if you ask me.

In other news, I have some super duper exciting projects in the works that I can’t wait to share with you! It’s going to be super fun, I promise. In the meantime, go whip one of these up and meet me back here next week. And if you’re in the states, enjoy this long weekend!

Cheers! To fruity beverages, long weekends and exciting projects!

raspberry, lime + gin cocktail
makes 1 cocktail

6 raspberries, plus one for garnish
1/2 ounce lime juice
1/2 ounce simple syrup
1 1/2 ounce gin
seltzer
lime slice to garnish

1
In a cocktail shaker, muddle the raspberries with the lime juice and simple syrup until the raspberries are totally mashed. Fill the shaker with ice, add the gin and shake for 10 seconds.

2
Using a mini strainer, strain (to prevent the raspberry seeds from going into the glass) the cocktail into a glass filled with ice. Top it off with seltzer and garnish with a lime wheel and raspberry. Enjoy!
