sunny satsuma

April 8th, 2011

Woohoo! It’s an extra happy hour today in the Carambula household because we’re heading out to sunny (hopefully) California! Aaron and I will be taking some time away from our computers, which rarely happens. We’ll also be hanging out with friends and even meeting some of you, our internet friends! We’re pretty pumped!

If you’re in San Francisco, we’ll be hanging out at a still-undecided bar this Saturday and we’d love to see you. I’ll be tweeting while I’m away, so if you’re up for hanging out with me and some type-lovers (Aaron is a Friend of Type), just check my twitter feed and come hang out, I’d love to meet you!

There are some definite must-see places in and around San Francisco that I will not be missing: Omnivore Books, Pot & Pantry, the Ferry Building, Blue Bottle Coffee, Tartine, Heath Ceramics… life is hard, I know. But I wanted to know, where would you go? Is there a place that I just shouldn’t miss? Perhaps a great cocktail bar? Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Cheers! To taking time to relax, have fun and hang out with friends, old and new.

I really recommend Umami for dinner. I seriously still dream about the pork hot pot. They do lots of small plates and sushi, so you can try many different bites. It’s amazing.

Your list is pretty good as is, you have some heavy hitters there. Seriously great cocktails at Alembic in the haight. Otherwise…Town Hall, Zuni Cafe? I also wouldn’t miss ice cream from Bi-Rite, of course. Brunch at Foreign Cinema? I don’t know, this place is the best. You can’t even really go wrong.

I just had a similar cocktail in Philadelphia – called the Philadelphia! I can’t wait to make this one… it looks delicious.

Your little list of sf treats is off to a great start, those are for sure some gems!
I’d add my two favorite haunts in all of sf-

Please whatever you do get out to Outerlands for brunch, or lunch for that matter, soak in their amazing decor, phenomenal bread, chocolate chip cookies, and excellent coffee. Rustic California at it’s best. Plus, Ocean beach is a 5 minute walk- post indulgence.

And Flora Grub- an entire nursery dedicated to succulents. Amazing design inspiration plus they serve ritual coffee so you can grab a latte and find a hidden corner and soak it all in.

did I get carried away?… maybe.
But have a beautiful trip wherever you end up, and thanks as always for such great inspiration on your site.
